Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace, Sunday 26th October
posted 27th October 2025
On a cold but calm day, ten club members turned out for this 5.5 mile walk from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace. After heading to the northern edge of the park, we picked up the southern part of the Parkland Trail which climbs steadily to Highgate, where we took a short drinks break. on Shepherds Hill. We then descended on a steep path, and after a short section along a suburban road, we continued our descent though Queens Wood. But we were then faced with a stiff climb with steps, the toughest part of the walk. After crossing Muswell Hill Road, we entered Highgate Wood, where we stopped to eat our lunch. Then, after leaving the park, we picked up the northern section of the Parkland Trail which took us to Alexandra Park and the famous Ally Pally. Had the sun been shining, the views over London would have been spectacular! From there, we descended for half a mile to the station to begin our journey back to Croydon.
