Visit to the National Maritime Museum, October 2024

On a pleasant day in early October, eight of us visited the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. After a short walk from Cutty Sark Station, we arrived at around quarter past eleven. We began with the museum itself, following the direction signs to view the many fascinating exhibits. We then broke for lunch, with some of us eating in the café, while others ate a packed lunch out on the terrace. Afterwards, we walked the short distance to Queen's House. Built for Henrietta Maria, the wife of King Charles I, this architectural masterpiece was designed by Inigo Jones and completed in 1635. It now functions as an art gallery, displaying an extensive range of paintings and other art works from the royal collection. All in all, it was a most interesting and enjoyable visit.
