An amble around Millwall Inner and Outer Docks, Friday 27th March
posted 31st March 2026
We started out from Canary Wharf station and headed to Pret A Manger on the side of Millwall Inner Dock for a life-affirming coffee. Then we set off on our 2.4 mile amble around the docks. After passing what had been a floating Chinese restaurant, we crossed the Glengall Bridge, a steel Dutch style double leaf bascule bridge. The area abounds with reminders of its past, posing many questions, some of which I could answer. Millwall Outer Dock is so large, when I first saw it, I thought it was The Thames! Our walk also included the quiet residential area of Clippers Quay and a short detour to Mudchute Park. Then it was back, via Millwall Inner Dock, to South Dock for lunch.
