Banstead to Wallington, Wednesday 18th March
posted 20th March 2026
On a bright sunny morning, six club members met at Banstead Station for this mainly rural 7 mile walk. After crossing the main road, we picked up the London Loop path, heading east. After crossing the railway line and passing the prison, we turned south, bringing us to Banstead, where we posed for a group photo in front of the village well. After a short walk along the road, we turned east again to cross some very open fields with extensive views. We emerged onto the road a short distance from the Woodman pub at Woodmansterne where we stopped for lunch. Afterwards, we headed north across the lavender fields and crossed another main road which took us into Oaks Park. On the far side of the park we continued eastwards through the Little Woodcote estate before turning north, following suburban streets to Wallington where we caught the bus back to Croydon. On one of the best days of the year so far, this was a most enjoyable walk!
