Coulsdon South to Whyteleafe; Sunday 12th April
posted 14th April 2026
On a breezy morning with hazy sunshine, seven of us set off from Coulsdon South Station, making the long, steady climb to the top of Farthing Down. After a brief stop, we headed down into Happy Valley and immediately climbed up the other side. After making another short stop, this time for well-earned drinks, we headed past the Fox pub, across Coulsdon Common and down Rydons Lane. At the bottom, we took the steep path up to farmland which we crossed to reach Old Lodge Lane, where we took a longer stop at the Wattenden Arms (see photo!) We then made our way to Kenley Aerodrome following its northern border before making a zig-zag descent into Whyteleafe where the walk ended; a very pleasant way to spend a spring morning!
