Hampstead Heath, Tuesday 21st July

On a pleasantly warm day, four club members turned out for a circular walk around Hampstead Heath. Beginning from Hampstead tube station, we began by heading south, going downhill to enter the heath at its lowest point. We then passed two of the Hampstead Ponds before turning right to climb Parliament Hill where we took a refreshment break. The picture, taken by Dave, shows Catherine Tom and myself at the viewing point. After descending the east side of the hill, we turned north, passing the Highgate Ponds on our way up to Kenwood House where we stopped for lunch. Afterwards, we looped around in front of the house before crossing the stone bridge and picking up the wooded path that took us through the woods and back up to Jack Straw’s Castle where we turned south to return to the station. Although this walk was only 4.5 miles, it packed in a great deal of very enjoyable walking!
