Richmond to Barnes, Sunday 2nd August

Once again, the trains disrupted our plans for a Sunday ramble! This time it was a signal failure at Wimbledon which prevented is getting to Godalming. However, as the trains heading towards Reading were running normally, we decided on a 6 mile walk from Richmond to Barnes. After walking down to the river, we headed upstream for a short distance before crossing Petersham Common and climbing up to the Promenade. We then stopped at Permbroke Lodge for an early lunch before walking across the park to Roehampton Gate and onwards to Barnes Station. Despite the disruption, this was a most enjoyable walk!
