Streatham Common to Upper Norwood, Sunday 8th March

Eight club members took the train to Streatham Common for this short but hilly morning walk, largely following Section 4 of the Capital Ring, but going the opposite way to that shown in the guide. Although none of the hills was really testing, they came one after the other, and we did maintain a very respectable pace. At the end, rather than finishing at Crystal Palace Station, we went for a well-earned drink at the Sparrowhawk in Upper Norwood, where one wall features a montage of posters advertising some of the major concerts held at the old Crystal Palace Bowl back in the 1970s.
