Visit to the Wallace Collection, Wednesday 11th March
posted 16th March 2026
On Wednesday 11th March, ten club members made the journey to Hertford House, the former home of the Wallace family, which is located in Manchester Square, Marylebone. As the collection is so wide ranging, comprising, ceramics, glass, silver, arms & militaria, furniture and a huge number of paintings, many be famous artists, it doesn’t lend itself to a guided tour. Instead, we each headed off to view the parts of the exhibition that we found of greatest interest. For me, the highlight was the exhibition in the basement of works by the Italian Renaissance artist Caravaggio.
