Welcome
A warm welcome to Croydon HF Rambling Club!
The Club has been in existence for over 50 years and currently has a membership of around 75. Three times per year, we send out a new programme to our members. These programmes cover the periods from 1st March to 30th June, 1st July to 31st October and 1st November to 28th February. We organise a ramble on most Sundays. In addition, our midweek activities include a twice-monthly walk of up to six miles, visits to places of interest, and some leisurely ambles - shorter walks that are always taken at a relaxed pace.
Club Activities
Sunday Rambles
For our Sunday rambles, walks of between 8 - 10 miles alternate with shorter morning-only walks of 5 - 6 miles. These walks cover a wide range of areas including the North Downs, Surrey heaths and the Kent and Sussex Wealds. For these rambles, we meet at East Croydon train station at 09.30 (unless advised otherwise by email, on the website or in the programme) and travel to the start of the ramble using public transport.
Midweek Rambles & Visits
Twice per month, we organise a midweek walk of around 5 - 6 miles. These walks alternate with our visits to places of interest, and the shorter, more leisurely ambles. For these events, we usually meet at East Croydon train station (unless advised otherwise by email, on the website or in the programme). Meeting times are either published in the programme or emailed to members around a week in advance. Travel to these events is always by public transport.
For any of our events, including the Sunday Rambles, it is usually possible for participants to meet up with the group at a different place from the one stated on the programme, (e.g. at the start of the walk) provided that they contact the event leader in advance to let them know. To facilitate this, event leaders' contact numbers are shown in the programme.
Membership
You are welcome to come along two or three times and try some of these events before joining the club. If you would like to become a member, please download the application form and GDPR Consent form from this website. Complete both forms and return them, together with your payment to Croydon HF Rambling Club, 7 Lilac Gardens, CR0 8NR. The annual fee is currently £12 which includes three full programmes of events. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon HF Rambling Club.

Further Details
As indicated in the programme, some of the interest visits and social events have to be booked in advance. There may also be a charge to cover admission and transport costs. For walks and rambles, we advise participants to wear stout footwear and weatherproof clothing. In addition, we expect everyone to take responsibility for their own safety, and to show due consideration to others on the walk, and to people that we meet along the way.
